Following approval by Coventry City Council’s Cabinet, the new Coventry Homefinder Policy will be implemented from 31st July 2014. The policy sets out who can register, how properties are advertised and who is given priority for social housing in the city.
The changes to the policy will see 9 out of 10 properties prioritised for those in the greatest housing need such as homeless families, families that are overcrowded, people who need adapted properties due to disabilities or medical conditions and those affected by the ‘bedroom tax’. It will also provide additional priority for members/former members of the Armed Forces and their families who are living in unsuitable housing.
If you are already registered with Coventry Homefinder, you will receive a message within the next few weeks on your Homefinder account which will explain the changes. Please log in to your account regularly to check your messages.
If you are in a priority band, you will receive a letter explaining any changes to your application. This will also show your 'effective date' - the date that you applied for priority banding. This will be used to prioritise shortlists and ensure that households who have been in housing need for the longest get prioritised first.
A summary guide to the new policy is available here.
The full policy is available to read here.
The reports which went to Cabinet are available to read here.
If your details or circumstances are incorrect you must make these changes to your application yourself.
